The Mystery of the Shroud — Dr. Cheryl White #011

The Shroud of Turin may be the most studied artifact on earth, yet the mystery surrounding it only deepens. Dr. Cheryl White, a history professor at LSU and leading shroud scholar, explores the forensic image, blood evidence, three-dimensional data, and historical clues that may place the cloth far earlier than the 1355 date often associated with it.

White examines why the 1988 carbon dating is increasingly challenged, newer evidence pointing toward a first-century origin, the Shroud’s connections to the Sudarium of Oviedo and ancient art, and the pollen, soil, and sampling controversies surrounding the cloth. Alongside Daniel Vitalis, she tackles the biggest questions surrounding its history, authenticity, and possible connection to Jesus and the resurrection.

Whether you’re a believer, skeptic, or simply fascinated by one of history’s greatest mysteries, this conversation offers a compelling look at the science, history, and unanswered questions surrounding the Shroud of Turin.
