ReWild Yourself, ReWild the Planet

Enjoy this Free Audio Podcast on Improving Your Water Strategy and Becoming More Feral!

Have a listen to this recent Podcast!

The Lindenschmidts are a rather unique family…  Lisa Marie, the Sassy Shaven Head and Tattooed Matriarch, “Big” Jim (James) in his Overalls and Beard (Yeah, he works out with SledgeHammers!), and their Daughter “Mo” (Morgan Anne) who despite being 12 feels much more like a College Professor (yes, the most advanced 12 year young I have ever encountered)…

Together they have a Brilliant Show called “Sweet Peas Podcast” that documents their Journey through the world of Superior Nutrition and Personal Discovery (what Lisa calls “Rite Food and Company”).

They have quickly become good friends up here in the Frigid North, and I quite love visiting for Lisa Marie’s excellent food, Jim’s outstanding Home-Brewed Meads and Herbal Beers, and of course, intellectual conversation with the real Brains of the operation, Mo.

Jim is an espoused “audiophile”, and his livingroom quickly converts into a rather impressive sound studio.  I think you will enjoy the crisp, clean quality of the audio here.  They come through with question nearly as unique and interesting as they are!

As to spring water vitality-- To what extent will we say 'purity' is in many respects due to 'harmonious' ecosystems of the local. As contrasted to 'disharmonious' enturbulation by artificial pollution. Or to over-concentrations of harmful effects, of one kind or another, from whatever source. As compared with deep, artesian wells, which draw the water from far below, while Maine water tables are often high. This deep feature also has interesting effects of muting effects of surface-gravity. Gases are readily infused deep down. While i notice spring water does not infuse such gases. It is noticed that water up the hill side seems more surface sources and often is 'acidic'. (To a point of causing that blue tint in the tub). While the deep artesian, (even my fast refill one) has these gases without the acid effect on the tub. The gases 'blow-off' easily in my open, gravity feed tank. Solar heated water (gently accumulated heat) seems much nicer, but might just be the inspirational thought. Does not thought matter in all of this :D

Greetings from another Mainiac here. Bo Atkinson
  • Thank you for sharing your work with the world!...super excited to hear you talk at Eden in April and had couple of questions regarding the agua...
I live in the middle of the Manitoban prairies and have friends who live off-grid with a well....they have a huge, plastic holding tank that they pump the well water into before they use it. How negatively do you think the well water, sitting in plastic affects it? Also, is the deeper the well, better water? ( or is ALL well water 'immature' ?)
I also asked them last night if they know of any Springs and they said there was one about an hour out of the city...so soon I shall find out!
    Warm prairie blessings...

    Hey Kristie!

    Well........ hehehehee

Depends. Plastic is a photo-degrader, which means it will break down in sunlight. If the tank is in direct sunlight this will affect the overall taste and quality of the Water inside.

Not all wells are created equal, and the water they tap is less of an underground lake and more like many crisscrosses of differing water capillaries. Each capillary will contain a different quality of Water. The Well drillers usually stop when they strike Water in sufficient quantity, and are not really looking for quality. Deeper doesn't always equate to better, though it may at times.

I have drank from artesian wells that bring up very "ripe" or "mature" water, though this is rare. Typically they bring up minerals at concentrations that are sub-optimal for drinking. This will be obvious in the taste, smell, and coloration of the water.

Springs are much more often "matured", bringing up water of low TDS. Keep in mind that not all springs are equal, and some are superior. A spring like Summit, from where I get my Raw Water is of a completely different grade than a lower altitude spring that one might visit on the side of the road.

I will go much deeper into depth with this at Eden!

Looking forward to seeing you there!

So nice, Daniel, to hear a health spokesperson talk about sociology - a call to action? I've often thought that good communicators in health like you should get together with good political/ecological communicators like Derrick Jensen. There is so much that needs to change. I've been thinking about this whole health thing - it's everything, but nothing - we need to just get healthy so that we can get to the real work that needs to be done; to face both the challenges and the opportunities.
  • danielvitalis
    Eric,

I totally agree.... health ought to be a given, right? It seems funny sometimes to be chasing it around... there has been something of a war waged on the health of humanity however... Ecologically... Hmmmm in order to save ecology from human destruction I think selfishness is the key! In other words, what is in it for me to protect ecology. THat is why I like to focus on health... it gives people a reason to care about their environment... Ultimately our health can only be a reflection of the health of the ecosystem.

I guess there are two ways to clean up the ecology... one approach is to start outwards and work your way in... the other to start within and work your way out. Both are beautiful, necessary and valid!

    Thanks for your comment!

    Viva!

  • Thanks Daniel!

I listened to it on my podcast because I couldn't bare to wait. Now I'm totally in love with the Lindenschmidts. My mom and brother and I had the same communication style growing up- boisterous, playful, and fascinated with things like word origins.

What you said about the ego threw me for a loop. I'm in the process of evaluating my relationship with my ego, thanks to your words of wisdom. Community is important to me so I want to examine the ways Miss E. is getting in the way. :-)

Thank you for sharing this wonderful interview! I'm excited for more to come!

    In Joy and Gratitude,
    Lauren
